Brilliant Summertime Wonder at The Market at Grelen

Jennie and Max’s August Charlottesville wedding flowed with natural summertime ease at The Market at Grelen. The elaborate tree nursery and greenhouse set a flourishing bucolic backdrop for the beautiful sun-soaked day.

Charlottesville wedding planners from The Hive Wedding Collective curated the flawless day and bespoke floral designers from Carbon & Co. accentuated the timeless romantic aesthetic with lush pink, yellow and ivory garden florals alongside abundant vines and leafing. A petal-doused ceremony aisle lead to a rustic alter overlooking rolling hills and forests.

Fine art Charlottesville wedding photographer Nikki Daskalakis documented a precious first look surrounded by plants, trees and summertime awe. She captured the groom’s deep blue suit, blush tie and floral socks, the bride’s dedicated tuxedoed pup that never left her side in the bridal suite, and a touching private moment as the bride and groom read handwritten letters to each other.

As the sun set behind the mountains, the terrace cocktail hour — set to live music and gourmet butlered hors d’ouevres — moved into the greenhouse reception space where tranquil natural design unfolded in wedding rentals and décor by Emerson James and Rent E-Quip. Speeches and laughter rolled into family traditions and dancing under strung bistro lighting among tables of gold flatware, classic white linens and lush green chandelier draping. Charlottesville wedding caterers from Harvest Moon Catering impressed with fresh locally grown summer produce and plated entrée service and a late-night donut wall kept guests fueled for the dance floor.
